no carving required: pumpkin decorating ideas

This one’s for my co-worker Jenn, who requested some ideas for pumpkins that don’t require carving.  Since she hasn’t committed to Pinterest yet.  Sheesh.  Oh, but wait, how are you? How was your week? Can you believe it’s already October?!? I feel like we are on the fast track to crazy town over here with all of our Autumn plans.  It seems like it started earlier this year, the holiday season.  For you too, or is it just us? OK, so some ideas for those who want to decorate pumpkins for Fall, but don’t want to deal with the mess.  Or those who have small nuggets at home and don’t want them to impale themselves with sharp carving tools.  Oh, and before I get into that, have you heard of Funkins? They are fake styrofoam-ish pumpkins that you can carve or decorate and they won’t rot! You can use them year after year for holiday decorations.  Highly recommend them if you don’t have a stash already.  Without further ado (yeah, it’s not “adieu” like I thought-can you believe it?), I present you:

obviously, for little ones the design would be more free-form! but a little spray paint action to prep before-hand, and a bunch of colorful markers for the kids could be an easy alternative, no? source:

some glue, buttons and ribbon (or anything you have on hand to adhere to the pumpkin: feathers, tissue paper, pre-cut construction paper shapes-you get the idea!) source:

skip the glue and paint all together and just dress your gourd up! source:

ET Pumpkin

or combine the paint and accessories to recreate a character

even easier? just have the kiddos make masks and tie them around the pumpkin! source:

googly eyes are SO cool! and this idea is pretty fun! source:

Pumpkin Contest Winner

our “carving contest” winner last year, who used Mr. Potato Head pieces! they sell kits in the store, or just kidnap your kids toys for a bit

So there are some no-carve pumpkin ideas, inspired by Jenn.  Who really should check out Pinterest.  And so should you! Click here for my Pumpkin Party page, with hundreds of ideas! (No, really, over 500!!)  In the meantime, do you have any great carve-free pumpkin decorating ideas? Don’t be stingy, now!

P.S. Happy birthday to my amazing, beautiful sister! Sara, I LOVE YOU!! Thanks for always supporting me 🙂
